Join your Hunters Woods friends and staff to walk in the South Lakes High School Homecoming Parade!

Date: Friday, September 13, 4:30 pm

Where: Hunters Woods Shopping Center

The parade route goes from Hunters Woods Shopping Center to South Lakes High School and is approximately 2 miles one-way.

Please sign up to participate in the parade. Submit one form per child.

Each child must have an adult chaperone. An adult can chaperone several children.

Please bring a bag of candy to pass out along the parade route!

Hello Mustangs Families!

I hope you all enjoyed your Labor Day weekend! We’ve had a fantastic start to the school year, and I’m thrilled about the events PTA has lined up—movie night this Friday at 6pm. Our goal is to create fun and enriching experiences for our children, but we can’t do it without your support!

We need volunteers, sponsors, and members to help make these events a success. Together, we can create amazing opportunities for our kids in a safe and welcoming environment. Mark your calendars to join us in our first general PTA meeting of the year on September 18th. We're working on options to make it easier for families to attend, more details coming soon.

Some of the events we organize include skate and bingo nights, Lego League, math clubs, and so much more. Your membership and donations directly fund these programs.

One initiative I’m particularly excited about is our after-school Spanish language classes. Learning a new language can open up a world of opportunities for our kids! Classes will be held twice a week, and we need at least 12 students to sign up by Friday, September 6, for the class to proceed. Limited scholarships are available. If you have any questions, I’m here to help.

We also offer a variety of other after-school classes through Baroody—check them out below! We’ve heard your feedback about afterschool, and we’re actively addressing them as we observe and improve throughout the year.

I look forward to meeting everyone in our HWES community as we work together to create a vibrant, supportive environment for our kids.

In partnership with Astar Explorer, the Hunters Woods PTA is offering an after school Spanish class for the full school year.

Tuesday and Thursday, 3:45 pm - 4:45 pm

Costs

$75 Registration and Supplies | $1,500 Tuition

Payment can be made in full or in two installments.

Hello Hunters Woods Mustangs!

I hope everyone had a great summer! We're having a great start to the school year! Things are off to a quick start, and we want to make sure everyone is prepared to have an amazing school year. 

The Hunters Woods PTA is run by parent volunteers. Our mission is to enhance the educational experience for all Mustangs.

Thank you to those that have already joined the PTA—we greatly appreciate your support. If you haven’t yet, there's still time to join the PTA today! Your membership donation helps the PTA fund programs including afterschool enrichment, teacher appreciation, teacher mini-grants, field trips, STEM activities, and more. There is no requirement to volunteer though volunteers are greatly appreciated.

We have some amazing events planned for this school year and are looking for volunteers to help make them happen. Please take a minute to fill out our volunteer opportunity survey.

Be sure to mark your calendars for Back to School Night on August 28th and our first movie night on September 6 (free to all).

For after school enrichment, we've got an exciting new offering this year—Spanish classes. See below for more details. Also, stay tuned for additional after school enrichment offerings in the coming weeks.

A Note from the New PTA President

Hello- I’m Sharlyne Tsai, and I’m excited to be your PTA president for the 2024-2025 school year! We're new to HWES, and we love spending time with friends and traveling. Our favorite night is Thursdays, when we enjoy TV and homemade sourdough pizza. I also enjoy many things, from a good book to gardening. 

The PTA is all about parents like you. With my experience in technology and project management, I’m looking forward to contributing to our school community. If you haven't already, check out what we achieved last year. 

We will be preparing for the new school year throughout the summer. Keep an eye out for PTA communications. I encourage you to share your feedback and get involved.

I can’t wait to meet you all and work together to make this a fantastic year for our kids. Share your ideas with us–let’s make a difference together and help our kids grow!

PTA Yearbook Distribution Limited Number of Extra Yearbooks for Sale by the PTA 

• The PTA will have a limited number of yearbooks available for purchase in person in the main school lobby before and after school on June 3rd – 7th between 8:30am-8:55am and 3:40pm-4:00pm (or until they sell out).
• The yearbooks will be sold on a first come, first serve basis and are available in softcover only. The cost is $20 per yearbook, and the PTA will accept cash or check (made payable to HWPTA).
• Yearbooks will be given to all classroom teachers on Monday evening for distribution in their classrooms. If your student needs to receive their book before Monday, please email [email protected] and let them know your student’s last day, full name, grade and teacher’s name.

  We've filled most of our board positions for next year & have heard a lot of great ideas for other programs you'd like to see!  PTA has something for everyone -- email [email protected] for more information or with ideas!

 

Our 100+ fourth graders use headphones frequently to complete online activities across subject areas (many students rely on these for literacy activities as they build their fluency and access challenging assessment questions). At this point in the school year, many headphones have broken. We would be so thankful to receive headphones that our fourth graders can use the last quarter of the school year, and for our rising 4th graders to start the year off strong for the 2024-2025 school year.

Help Stock the Teachers Lounge!

Stock the lounge - help us provide an array of snacks for our teachers & school staff to enjoy! 

  OHS Junior Dance Camp 2024

All rising 1st-8th graders who love to dance are invited to attend camp this summer on Tuesday, Thursday & Friday, June 18, 21 & 21 from 8:30 am - 12:30 pm at Oakton High School.  Participants will learn choreography and technique with OHS Dance Team dancers and coaches. The campers will have the opportunity to perform a routine at the end of the week. Each day there will also be a craft, snack time, and team building activities. The cost is $175 (which includes a camp t-shirt).
